Rising stars in the hard rock genre, Dayseeker have recently embarked on their latest North American run, dubbed the Pale Moonlight tour after the lead single from their latest album Creature in the Black Night, released last October. The tour, which is now fully sold-out as of publication, sees the band bringing their blend of emotional lyrics and heavy yet melodic riffs to audiences across the country with support from Northlane, Wind Walkers, and sace6 for a packed night of amazing music. Thanks to Northlane’s team, The Encore Nights was able to catch the tour as they stopped at Oklahoma City’s Diamond Ballroom to play to a packed house for what would certainly be a night to remember.

First to take the stage was sace6 (pronounced sah-chay six), a pop/hip-hop/metal fusion duo from the New York/New Jersey area who are taking the scene by storm with their blend of pop and R&B-influcenced vocals and beats mixed with heavy riffs and screams. Hot off the heels of their debut album brutalist, released on May 8 via Sumerian Records, sace6 kicked off the night well with selections from the album such as “ego,” “covet,” and “perfidy,” showing that they are an act to keep an eye on in the heavy scene.

Next up was Wind Walkers, a melodic metal band hailing from the Massachusetts area, who also brought a massive amount of energy and had the crowd hanging on to their every word –  so much so that there was audible disappointment when their second song, “The End Aesthetic,” had to be cut short due to an unknown incident in the crowd. Thankfully, it seemed to be resolved quickly, but due to set time constraints they elected to just move on to the next song “Silk & Static.” Other setlist highlights included the uber-catchy “Bodybag,” cementing Wind Walkers’ place as another band to watch.

The final of the support acts was also the band who had traveled the furthest to join the tour, as metal band Northlane hails all the way from across the globe in Australia. Northlane, made up of vocalist Marcus Bridge, guitarists Jon Deiley and Josh Smith, and drummer Nic Pettersen, immediately captured the crowd’s attention as they launched into “Carbonized” from 2022’s Obsidian, followed by “4D” and “Talking Heads.” This tour is also seeing the live debut of the band’s latest single “Evian,” released on April 28, giving fans a taste of what’s to come musically. Neither Northlane nor the crowd’s energy waned in the slightest through their 9-track set, which concluded with a medley of older tracks and a return to Obsidian with “Clockwork,” leaving the audience, myself included, hungry for more. After the Pale Moonlight tour concludes in San Diego, CA on May 30, the band is spending most of the remainder of the year touring heavily across the globe, with multiple shows in Europe this summer before they reunite with Dayseeker for a UK & EU run later this year. All upcoming shows can be found on their website

Finally, just after 9:30 p.m., the venue went dark and the opening notes of “Pale Moonlight” began to echo through the venue as Dayseeker vocalist Rory Rodriguez took the stage, clad in a long black coat, singing the first introductory verse alone before being joined on stage by his bandmates to finish the track and go into “Shapeshift” before throwing things back to their 2022 album Dark Sun with “Dreamstate.” Though the setlist leaned heavily on selections from Creature in the Black Night, such as their most recent hit “Crawl Back to My Coffin,” they made sure to sprinkle in a few of their other hits as well such as “Without Me,” “Crying While You’re Dancing,” and setlist closer “Neon Grave.” Much to the delight of the crowd, they even performed a haunting cover of My Chemical Romance’s “The Ghost of You.” The audience was fully enamored, singing along to almost every word – sometimes, like during “Without Me,” the crowd’s vocals echoed even louder than Rodriguez himself, providing a truly hauntingly beautiful experience. Through this show, Dayseeker demonstrated why they’re currently one of the biggest names in the modern rock scene, and their momentum is only continuing to grow.

Dayseeker will make an appearance at Sonic Temple festival this weekend in Ohio, before the Pale Moonlight tour resumes in St. Louis, MO. All upcoming performance dates can be found on the band’s website
