Letdown. is an alternative rock project by Blake Coddington that started during the pandemic but has since blossomed into over 660K followers and 5.5M likes on TikTok, 47+ million views on his YouTube channel, over 100+ million overall artist streams and editorial playlisting from the likes of Spotify’s All New Rock, New Noise, Rock Out and Rock Hard.
Raincoat is his newest single for his much-awaited album coming out this year. The song starts with a catchy beat and plucked guitar melody that keeps you glued as Coddington sings lyrics reflecting internal conflict. The verse ends with a seamless drop to heavy guitar riffs that continue to captivate you with lyrics that every troubled relationship relates to like “Apologize a thousand times a week now.” and “What did I do this time?“. The bridge makes it even clearer on how messed up relationships causes turmoil within ourselves. From beginning to end, the song remains very animated, brisky. I caught myself finger tapping and head-bobbing throughout the song as I was truly immersing to the vibe it dishes out. Coddington reveals the song vividly portrays the struggles and contradictions inherent in toxic relationships.
Letdown.’s previous single “Hate Myself” has made success with over 776k plays on Spotify and grabbing Alternative Radio’s #1 most added track on it’s first week. I have no doubt Raincoat will share similar success. Letdown. will soon be going on tour starting July 10 in Cleveland at the Agora Ballroom.
