Rising New York-based artist Ella Galvin announced her debut EP, ‘The Way It Goes,’ set to release June 14th. Galvin premiered the EP’s title track along with it’s accompanying music video. 

“‘The Way It Goes’ is a song about going back and forth between wanting to see your ex, and not wanting to reopen those wounds again and risk being disappointed,” says Ella. Merging groovy, rock instrumentation along with Galvin’s soulful vocals and catchy pop hooks, “The Way It Goes” upholds Ella’s knack for transcending musical genre limitations. 

Lyrics such as “That’s just the way it goes. Can’t drown in tears from the loneliness.” captures the song’s message of getting over an awful, past love affair. The track’s rhythmic sound makes it perfect to dance to as you let go of the past, and live for the future. From getting over heartbreak, to a new love of fate, “That’s just the way it goes.”

The music video for “The Way It Goes” was filmed in New York City and directed by Cel Sanel. Viewers are introduced to different facets of Ella. From her love of fashion, to her queer identity, the video tells you exactly who Galvin is. 

Taking influence from pop, soul, jazz and rock, Ella’s songs showcase her flair for experimentation and innovation. Her upcoming EP combines her diaristic storytelling alongside the singer’s genre-fusing sound. The 6-track project will explore themes of love, loss, and self-identity. Ella captures the charm, growth, and introspection she’s experienced as a young, queer woman striving to make it in New York City, 

Ella Galvin got her start performing in a variety of fusion bands in Boston and New York before branching out with her own solo project in 2022. She’s spent the last few years developing her sound and sharpening her live show with performances around New York City. The singer is one for strong choices and strong expression.
