Alternative hard-rocker elijah, whose hit single “virus” has amassed an astounding 10 million streams since its release in 2023, is currently in the midst of his debut headlining tour. Dubbed “The Lowest Tour” after his recently released debut full-length album of the same name, the run is taking the alt-rocker to cities across the United States, with Royale Lynn, Of Virtue, and never easy serving as support for the run. The Encore Nights had the pleasure of catching the tour as it stopped through Oklahoma City’s Beer City Music Hall, marking Elijah’s first performance in the city, for a night of heavy-yet-heartfelt bangers.
Kicking off the night, much to the surprise of many (including myself) since they weren’t listed on any of the venue’s posters for the show, was never easy, hailing all the way from Montreal, Quebec. The trio opened the show with an enticingly grungy, angsty set.

Next up was Of Virtue, a hard-rock quartet from Lansing, Michigan. I caught them on this same stage a few months ago supporting Archers, and they sounded just as phenomenal this time around as they got the crowd singing along to tracks such as “Sinner” and “Cannibals”. The crowd was also treated to not one, but two unreleased songs, “Death of the Alter” and “Goliath” – both of which sounded absolutely killer and are making me very excited to see what else the band has in store.

The last of the support acts, and the one I was most excited for, was self-proclaimed “punktry” artist Royale Lynn. Blending a beautiful southern twang with heavy riffs that’ll get almost anyone headbanging along, Ms. Lynn seemed right at home in Oklahoma as she captivated the crowd with a selection of tracks from her debut album Black Magic like “WTCH”, “Pandora’s Box” and “Death Wish”, as well as her breakout single “Six Feet Deep” and a stunning cover of Flyleaf’s “All Around Me”.

Finally, around 9:45, the crowd began to roar as Elijah took the stage, and the energy immediately went through the roof as he kicked things off with “My Own Misery”, followed by his hit “virus”. It wasn’t long until the mosh pits began, either, and once the crowd started jumping around, they did not stop all night, except when appropriate during slower moments like the album’s title track “lowest”.
Another highlight came later in the set when they were joined for “Underrated” by Kage Archer, a young teen who has amassed an impressive following of his own through posting metal covers on social media. The two vocalists blended together almost seamlessly, with Archer’s powerful screams complimenting Elijah’s melodically raspy tone extremely well.
Though I walked into the set not being super familiar with his discography, other than “virus” from hearing it on Sirius XM’s Octane, I walked away genuinely impressed with Elijah’s heart and talent. It was clear that he is pouring his heart into his music, and that he was genuinely grateful for everyone in the audience for showing up and showing out.
The Lowest tour marches on for a few more shows, wrapping up on November 25 in Newport, KY. Tickets for all upcoming shows can be found on his website.
