Album Review: “I Feel Everything” by Maggie Lindemann

Singer-Songwriter Maggie Lindemann has returned to the scene with her new album “I Feel Everything.” The title has been on Maggie’s mind for years. Speaking with Spout Podcast, she explains “I’ve just been wanting [that title] tattooed on me for like years and years and years. It had nothing to do with music…I do feel things very deeply and when something happens like I really really feel it.” This album goes through her emotions of heartache, losing someone, and how she’s changed from experiencing those struggles.

Getting into the Halloween spirit, “fang” follows someone stuck in a trance and consuming all of her love, “I know I’ve been on your mind / Know that you don’t sleep at night / There’s no life behind your eyes, I know.” The upbeat track mixed with edm, uses vocalizers throughout to symbolize the lightness and feeling of relaxation when they’re trapped in this daydream state. In “suburbs” we’re stepping into Maggie’s life of expectation vs reality, “I could change up my appearance, move away across the states / I’d get married to a stranger that one day you’ll probably hate / All my life I’ve wanted more but the lows are getting real high / Well, wouldn’t that be the life?” Maggie does an exceptional job resonating back to her younger days and what she thought hers would look like. The way she captures everything that the older generation was told they’ll experience, to now, shows the significance of how drastic your life can change by not following a rule plan.

This new era that Maggie is in, it’s edgy, impulsive, and tugs at your heartstrings with life-changing scenarios and intriguing story telling. In relation to her album cover, she can literally feel everything. The sharp pain of the nails balances out throughout her whole body, so it won’t hurt her in one specific part of her body. Her strong symbolism flows around the album; not knowing if this is the right person or not, losing someone who’s still in your life, but you can feel them drifting away, and feeling disoriented with yourself. Maggie Lindemann is definitely not afraid to hold back.
