Being the second to last stop on the tour, Dallas had the pleasure of partying the night away with Toro Y Moi at the House of Blues. With Kassie Kurt and Panda Bear opening the night, the packed ballroom was showered in trippy visuals, stunning light show, and plenty to go around genre-wise for just about everyone in the crowd.
It’s safe to say that watching Kassie Kurt was an experience all on its own. The contrast of the heavy industrial beats and Kurt’s soft voice, all shrouded under low lights created an eerie vibe that had the audience hooked. Her fellow bandmates donning sunglasses to add a layer of mystery while Kurt effortlessly mixed their tracks made for a great opening set, setting the bar for the rest of the night.

Next up was Panda Bear, one of the founding members of the group Animal Collective. Lit by a projector showing various visuals from colorful shapes to more far out concepts like glitched-out dogs running on a beach, the band’s eleven song set was quite the trip to see.

Twenty-two songs did not feel like enough when it came to the main set of the night. Balancing bright and vivid lights with a fogged out room truly made the music hall feel like a party straight out a movie. Playing some of their biggest songs like “Ordinary Pleasure”, “Rose Quartz”, and a personal favorite “So Many Details”, frontman Chaz Bear had every fan on their feet. Ending the night with their Flume collab hit “The Difference”, Toro Y Moi left the stage with a bang.
Although the tour has ended, there are a few one-off shows in September you can catch on their official website. You can also stream Toro Y Moi’s newest single “Stars And Sons / Almost Crimes” here!
