After recently releasing “Rizen” just a few backs, Gillsaw releases their second single “Siren Comes”. The industrial rock band conceptualized by Jole Gillis of The Bay Area tells the tale of dark torment and seduction of a man by a siren. Both songs released delve into themes of temptation, vulnerability, and psychological torment.
The song is a tale of nightly seductions and attacks by a siren with malevolent intent. The lyrics gradually exposes the true meaning and desire the creature has for the poor man. “Soft barefoot approach”, “Silky dominatrix”, and “Smooth with tongue” paints the vivid picture of the Siren’s alluring nature. “Demonic ” , “Kills for thrills”, and “She’ll drain your soul” reveal her true nefarious purpose. It’s not hard to feel the anguish and isolation the man experiences which works with the unique blend of sounds the song offers. It is a truly unique experience.
Gillsaw’s influences range from industrial pioneers like Ministry and Nine Inch Nails to progressive metal giants like Devin Townsend and Tool. They also detour into the experimental realms of Sleepytime Gorilla Museum and the cinematic soundscapes of Danny Elfman. So many elements converge to create Gillsaw’s unique and captivating sound.
