Angel White, Texas native and emerging country singer has announced his upcoming album GHOST OF THE WEST: THE ALBUM set to debut March 7th, 2025.
This comes after the release of his EP GHOST OF THE WEST: VOLUME I in 2024. The six track project set the tone for the musician’s Americana/Country sound. His enchanting storytelling married with his cowboy roots took listeners on a journey through soulful melodies.
The extended play received acclaim from Billboard, KTX and SPIN with the latter calling it “a feat of storytelling that echoes Willie Nelson and Robert Earl Keen.”
Succeeding this, White released the “honky-tonk” track titled “ DOWN BY THE RIVER” and the soulful sounding “Crossroads”. Both songs are to feature on his forthcoming album.
Over the last year, Angel’s music has amass over 2 million streams and appeared on highly coveted playlists such as “Spotify Fresh Finds”, Apple Music’s: “New in Country”, and Amazon’s “Breakthrough Folk”.
Angel White had a busy 2024, touring and performing his music around the country. The cowboy-singer anticipates an even busier 2025 year.
“SAVE SOME FOR ME” is White’s latest release. The track is central to the singer’s musical identity.
The track features smooth, passionate vocals that glide over a moving, country instrumental.
The first verse;
Tried, teased, and taunted
For the longest time
Feel warm when I’m wanted
Like the whole world is kind
Haunted by my halos
Dragged out from my past
Can’t tell by my face though
Poker is my past time
And I know that you’re there but I can’t see through the glass
The initial verse sets the emotional tone of the song. It feels vulnerable yet defiant. The opening lines (“Tried, teased, and taunted for the longest time”) suggests struggle in the singer’s past. This is contrasted with the next line
“Feel warm when I’m wanted, like the whole world is kind”- White finds moments of comfort despite past calamity. The rest of the verse gives a sense of dragged-out guilt partnered with emotional guardedness. The introductory verse blends past wounds with an aim to move forward.
The chorus;
So save some for me
you know I’m falling out
And I can’t believe you and I shared a sound
And I should head home
But I can go another round
I bet the world is sorry now
The chorus is a plea not to be left behind by the one the singer loves. With the emotional instability of the relationship, it’s difficult for Angel to believe that the them and the other person once “shared a sound” or connection. Knowing that he should leave, he is still entangled with the situation. The chorus is longing. The singer plays tug-of-war with the idea of coming and going.
The second verse;
It’s all there if I wanted
Just gotta take what’s mine
I’m so important
Ain’t gonna stand in line
I like silken pillows
All the finer things
I’m no weeping willow
I’m an oak with many rings
Axes in your hand
But don’t you dare cut me down
The second verse differs from the first because it establishes power. It says that there is no need to seek the validation the singer probably sought after in the past. Desiring solidity has made the cowboy go from fragile to wise – “I’m no weeping willow,
I’m an oak with many rings.”
The bridge, which serves as the chorus as well acts as a breakdown, adding emotional weight before the final chorus.
On creating the track, Angel shares, “This song is an ode to the lost lovers. It’s a letter to both my heart and to yours. A reminder that the flame is still lit, even despite a fallout. It’s easy to dismiss your feelings when you’ve been hurt, but it takes work to love through it all.”
