The Black Opera Across North America has made it’s way to Dallas, Tx. Hosted by The Granada Theater, the tour is co-headlined by Fleshgod Apocalypse and Shadow of Intent with special guests Ingested, The Zenith Passage, and Disembodied Tyrant. This show had everything from circle pits to crowd surfers that you would expect nothing less from some of the top death metal and deathcore performers the world has to offer. You quickly transcend into another realm full of jumping, screaming, and total blissful chaos.

Disembodied Tyrant started the night off and set the tone with their symphonic progressive deathcore music. Performing hits like “Icarian”, “Malphasian”, and “The Poetic Edda”, the hypnotic combination of orchestral elements with blasting riffs and sludgy breakdowns quickly drew people in and was a good start to an incredible show.

The Zenith Passage followed and did not skip a beat to their previous performers. The death metal band from Los Angeles stepped up to the plate and showed why their progressive, unique sound continues to exhilarate fans of the genre. “The Axiom of Error”, “Lexicontagion, and “Algorithmic Salvation” were among the few they played from “Datalysium”, an album they released 2023.

Ingested is a band from the UK formed 2006 and has released seven studio albums since formation, with the latest being “The Tide of Death and Fractured Dreams” in 2024. They played songs from said album including “Paragon of Purity”, “Pantheon”, and “Endless Machine” but also graced death metal fans songs from their old albums including the smash hit “Impending Dominance”.

Shadow of Intent co-headlines the tour and leaves fans in absolute awe. The deathcore band from Connecticut was formed 2013 and drummer Bryce Butler is a hometown hero that easily connected the fan base to the band’s masterful, progressive, symphonic metalcore and deathcore blend. Performing hits like “Malediction”, The Heretic Prevails”, “Flying The Black Flag”, and “Gravesinger” fans were roaring and not left wanting.

Fleshgod Apocalypse theatrically ends the night with their unique symphonic death metal sound that combines opera with sheer violence, majestic orchestrations, and soaring melodies. They performed hit songs like “Minotaur”, The Egoism”, The Fool”, “The Violation”, “The Forsaking”, and “Monnalisa”. They are a band that needs to be experienced live.

The Black Opera Tour has a few more das left in the US before it makes it’s way to Europe. Catch this incredible, one of a kind show by purchasing tickets here. This was honestly my first heavy metal show and I was not disappointed by what I saw and how I felt throughout the show. I’d like to take this chance to thank Brian Krahe (talented photographer, videographer, and content creator) for helping me to experience this crazy good show.
