Still Woozy has released his second album, Loveseat.
The Portland-based, lofi-pop singer gives listeners a euphoric sound that differentiates itself from his previous project.
In a conference with music journalists, Sven Gamsky spills all on his new project.
His wife Ashley curated the animated creatures for the cover art. He loves to record in his home studio. Sven says “Being grounded and having a familiar space to record helps me connect with myself.”
Music videos for the songs All Your Life and Again feel nostalgic while paying homage to the track. The songs and their corresponding videos are vivid. The 2000s-coded editing style complements the track.
When asked what was his musical inspiration for the project he said “The Beatles, some Marvin Gaye records and Tame Impala. I want it to feel inviting.”
Again, Shotput, Run It Back are melodic, easygoing tunes. They are effortless on the ears.
Loveseat is more comfortable in its sounds than its predecessor album.
Still Woozy said he wanted to experiment with more storytelling on this album.
Sven says the message of Loveseat is “To make music that feels authentic to me. Rid Of Me is my favorite song on the album.”
Tracks like Houston, Baby and Little Things are more sentimental, melancholic vibes.
While being congratulated on fatherhood he discusses how it affected the album.
“I knew I had a limited amount of time to finish the album before the baby came. It forced me to get my $&#+ together. The baby was my album deadline and it was really helpful.”
He talks about collaborating with other artists.
“It’s not something that I seek out. Features can be overdone. It just has to be organic. I like making music alone, but I’m open.
Sven discusses being around people whom you love.
“Platonic love is necessary to have outside of romantic love. It’s good for your psyche and mental health to care about other people too.”
The dreamy sound of Loveseat is derived from love as Still Woozy says that every track on the album is about someone he loves.
Still Woozy’s Loveseat is available to stream everywhere.
