Marking the halfway point of the US leg of their This Cant Be The End Tour, Good Kid and supporting act Adan Diaz brought their jam-packed show to Dallas last week, performing at the iconic Ferris Wheelers. Known for viral hits such as ‘Alchemist’, ‘Mimi’s Delivery Service’, and their cover of Laufey’s ‘From The Start’, Good Kid puts togethers a stacked setlist, along with multiple surprises for their most dedicated fans throughout the night.
Opening the night as the sun set over the venue was Chicago native Adan Diaz, bringing his take on bedroom pop with a mix of Spanish and English flair. The connection he has between his bassist Will Izdepski and drummer Jake D was incredible to watch. Even those new to Diaz and the band were cheering them on and bouncing around by the end of their set with songs like ‘jumping fences’, ‘legroom’, and ‘luchador’. Even though Diaz is only nineteen, it’s clear to see the talent that he has for performing as he easily caught the crowd’s attention with his stage presence, leaving no doubt that this is just the beginning for him as he completes this tour, along with a performance at one of biggest festivals in the US at Lollapalooza later this summer.

For those who know Good Kid, their love and connection to many pop-culture references is nothing new. Openly having Beyblade battles in the middle of their shows, covering songs like ‘All-Star’ by Smash Mouth, or even throwing in a sea-shanty, you never know what will happen next. With this in mind, this sentiment was echoed as the lights dimmed down over the sold-out venue, the opening notes of the famous ‘Pokémon Theme’ by Jason Paige flooding the speakers. Good Kid brought all the energy, opening with hits such as ‘Alchemist’ and ‘Bubbly’. Although the stage was small, that didn’t stop Good Kid from jumping around while playing their hearts out, even if it unplugged an instrument or two. Even their vocalist Nick Frosst climbed up the scaffolding at one point towards the end of the show!
One of the many moments that stick out about this show is the “Wheel of Chaos” segment where a large wheel is brought out with wacky challenges for the band to perform if chosen, whether it be a cover, playing one of their songs but faster every time the word ‘faster’ is said, or even ending the show entirely. In a very touching moment they bring a random fan onto the stage to have their chance at the wheel, which lands on the faster song option. Later on into the night, they bring another pair of fans to perform a self-choreographed dance to their song ‘Dance Class’. It is clear to see just how dedicated Good Kid is when it comes to the connection between their fans, something that is so hard to come by with bands their size. Closing out the night with a electrifying performance of ‘From The Start’ and ‘Mimi’s Delivery Service’, Good Kid thanked the crowd as they were their biggest headline show to date.
The US leg of This Cant Be The End Tour continues on until June 1st with only a few select dates with tickets remaining. If Good Kid is coming to a venue near you, this is not a show you want to miss!
