On a chilly Friday night, Ricky Montgomery and opener Noah Floersch brought the entertaining, yet chaotic energy of The Rick Tour: Another Rick in the Wall to the iconic House of Blues in Dallas, TX. Being primarily known for indie-pop hits such as “Line Without a Hook’ and “Mr. Loverman”, Ricky aims to blend his first album with his newest 2023 release Rick for this tour. With a setlist that appeals to fans old and new, funny hijinks placed throughout the show, and incredible stage design, this tour is shaping up to be some of his best work yet.

The evening started out with an opening set from Nebraska native Noah Floersch with his song “Thompson’s Station” off his 2023 album , bringing together a mix of melodic indie and folk. His seven song set combined songs from both his album and his 2023 EP “Hold Me Like You’re Scared To“, along with a cover of the incredible Kacy Musgraves hit “Slow Burn”. The crowd was hooked from the start, with some of the applause in-between songs being louder than expected as Noah had pointed out a couple of times. It’s always heartwarming to see an opener get their well-deserved flowers, and Noah was no exception. Closing the night out with his biggest hit “Ghost of Chicago”, fans were more than ready for the main event of the night.

As the lights dimmed and a collection of stray light beams shined on the large curtain and doorway that were set up stage, Ricky Montogomery made an electrifying entrance with his hit “Line Without a Hook”. To up the ante, he even jumped off the stage and made his way from one side of the barricade to the other, grabbing a cowboy hat that fans had signed for him and leaning into the crowd with their support. Calling Ricky a natural superstar would be an understatement, his charisma and stage presence being top-tier in every way. One second your taken aback by a beautiful love song, and the next your laughing as he pulls out a megaphone to blast their merch before jumping into the next one.

Before the night came to a close, Ricky finished with a three song encore, ending with his arguably most well-known hit “Mr. Loverman”, a song that has found it’s way into multiple social media trends throughout the years by being connected to many shows, with it’s current target being the anime Jujustu Kaisen. Before leaving the stage, Ricky did not hesitate to throw many folded setlists into the crowd as paper airplanes, promising that his return will not be far off.

The Rick Tour: Another Rick in the Wall continues into next month, ending on March 23 in Los Angeles. Remaining dates and tickets for the rest of the tour can be found on Ricky Montgomery’s website, you do not want to miss out!
