Three of the largest latin pop superstars of the past few decades have joined forces to bring one giant arena party to the masses by expanding last year’s Trilogy Tour to additional markets across the United States and Canada. The superstars in question – Pitbull, Enrique Iglesias, and Ricky Martin, brought this party to Oklahoma City’s Paycom Center late last week on February 8, and I can only describe what went on as the most fun I have had at a live show in quite a while (and this is coming from someone who attends a LOT of shows!). All three performers brought a huge amount of energy and offered the crowd a much-needed escape for one night as everyone danced and sang along all throughout the arena.

First to take the stage was Mr. Worldwide himself, Pitbull, who immediately got the crowd fired up as his set kicked off with “Don’t Stop the Party.” With backup dancers and smoke cannons a-plenty, the production level was absolutely stunning, and the tone was set for the evening from the very first note – the energy only increased as Pitbull went through a set of some of his biggest hits, including features, such as “Hotel Room Service,” “Gasolina,” “On the Floor,” “Timber,” and “Fireball.” Near the end of the set, he also paused to talk about his efforts with the SLAM! Foundation to help construct schools in under-served communities across the US in an effort to give back and help youth of the future, which I hadn’t known about and thought was really awesome. Though I am a self-professed rocker, even I couldn’t help but smile throughout his performance and get swept up in the energy of the crowd.

Next up was Enrique Iglesias, the act I was most excited for. Though most of my playlist tends to skew a bit heavier, I did have a pretty heavy Enrique phase around late elementary/middle school, about the time that “I Like It” was climbing the mainstream pop charts. To say that I was excited would be an understatement, although I think my mom was even more hyped. Of the three, Enrique’s production was the most understated, with most of the set being just him with a backing band/tracks compared to the posse of dancers that accompanied both Pitbull and Ricky, but this was not a fault, as he was able to get the crowd hyped up plenty on his own. Enrique also utilized a second “B” stage at the rear of the arena at different points, which allowed fans scattered all over to capture different views at different times, which I thought was awesome.

The most hyped-up moments definitely came from his biggest hits such as the aforementioned “I Like It,” the croon-worthy “Hero,” and set-closer “Bailando.”  However, the shining gem of the set in my eyes was actually one of the most stripped-back moments, as he brought one of his backup singers up to perform “Loco” as a duet; the duo’s voices sounded phenomenal together, and it provided a nice breather in between all of the dance bops of the night.

Last, but CERTAINLY not least, was Ricky Martin himself. Although his catalog was the one I was least familiar with of the three, his set ended up surprising me the most as his live vocals were definitely the strongest of the three, and his energy was absolutely infectious from beginning to end. Going into the set, I was largely only familiar with his hits like “Livin’ La Vida Loca” thanks to the Puss in Boots/Donkey rendition from Shrek 2, but his stage presence and vocal prowess kept me captivated along with the rest of the crowd from beginning to end, with the set including tracks such as “Pégate,” “María,” “Shake Your Bon-Bon,” “She Bangs,” “Por Arriba, Por Abajo,” and closing with “The Cup of Life (La Copa de La Vida).”

All three artists put on a phenomenal show unlike anything I’ve ever seen and you do not want to miss this tour if it’s coming to a city near you! The Trilogy Tour picks back up on February 13 at the Ball Arena in Denver, Colorado before continuing on, concluding on March 10 in Tampa, Florida.
