It’s been five years since Kim last blessed Phoenix with her presence. The last, and only time, she’s ever performed in the city was in 2018 as support for Tory Sivan’s Bloom Tour so it’s safe to say the city has been waiting for this one.

The night began with a DJ set from Alex Chapman. He got the crowd ready to go by playing a variety of gay club anthems with artists like Cobrah, Robyn, Lady Gaga and Azealia Banks pumping through the speakers. Then, it was time for Kim to take the stage.

Kim’s set was split into five acts and an encore. She began with song the title track of her debut album and the namesake of the tour, “Feed The Beast.” She then immediately threw fans back in time by playing ” Personal Hell” off her 2019 mixtape Clarity. The finish out her first act, she brought fans back to present day by playing two more songs off Feed The Beast, “King of Hearts” and “Revelations.” She closed out this portion by performing her portion of the 2022 hit “Unholy.”

While Kim was off stage doing her first outfit change of the night, unreleased song “KIMKIMKIM” blasted through the speakers. Kim then reappeared in stage in the suit jacket and button up top to perform the entirety of her 2022 mixtape “Slut Pop.” She played the entire mix tape in order, at some point taking off the suit attires and ending up in just a bra and underwear. She finished off this act with “Treat Me Like a Ho,” a song off her most recent album Problematique which was dropped as surprise in September of this year.

The third act began with Kim on a small rotating platform at the top of the stage where she performed “Claws” off of Feed the Beast. She then joined her dancers on a bed on the stage to perform songs “Hillside Boys,” “Something About U,” and a rock rendition of “Hit It From The Back.” After the song she said to the crowd “rock n roll isn’t dead, Phoenix.” She finished off this act with “BAIT,” which showcased videos of Banks who is featured on the song. She then let the stage to change her outfit again and start a new act.

The fourth act was dedicated to her two Halloween themed albums, Turn Off The Light Vol I and Turn Off The Light. The interlude “Omen” played over the stage while fans waited for Kim to come back to the stage. She played through “Turn Off The Lights,” “Wrong Turn,” and “There Will Be Blood” before leaving the stage to change once again as another interlude played. She returned to the stage with a black trench coat to finish out the act with songs “In The Next Life” and “Everybody Dies.”

She returned to the stage in a sparkly gown to play through her final act of the night. The final section consisted of “brrr,” “Icy,” “Minute,” and “Castle in the Sky.” She then disappeared once again to change for her encore.

For the encore, Kim ascended from under the stage, sitting on top of a disco ball that was shaped like a penis and balls. As the beginning beats of “Alone 2.0” played she appeared wearing a shirt that said “I ❤ My Pussy” and a pink skirt. She finished off the night with ‘Problematique” and “Heart To Break.”

Kim is a pop icon in the making. She has killer live vocals and loyal fan base behind her. She’s already a modern day queer icon. Point blank period. She’s carved her niche in the queer community as musical figurehead and it’s only a matter of time until she cements herself in the mainstream.
