On September 17, the all-female American band L7 took over Gramcery Theatre for a loud, energized show for their In Your Space tour.

To begin the show, the French LA-based band Tarah Who? brought a very high energy to the crowd that provided a great “icebreaker” for L7, which is how lead singer Tarah carpenter defined her set. The Paris group (with a guitarist from NYC) held an engaging performance by really playing into audience reactions. For example, after a song filled with cheers and hollers from the crowd, Carpenter poked fun with the crowd for cheering along to a song about mansplaining. The angst Tarah Who? brought on stage made for a seamless transition into L7’s performance.

The performance L7 put on felt like time traveling into the 80s and 90s. The punk rock band originated in Los Angeles in the 80s and since, has continued to lead crowds to every city they enter. Spinning around their guitars and jumping onto the drum platform, L7 created a wildly engaging performance in New York City, proving their continued success that has lasted since the 80s. The show featured some of the most dedicated fans and a refreshingly respectful audience.
