On the night of the concert, The Van Buren was packed with fans eagerly anticipating a night of soulful music. The atmosphere was filled with positive vibes and the audience was there for one thing: a good time, which was evident from all the dancing and singing that started with even just the house playlist.
Ogi opened the show with an electrifying performance that set the tone for the evening with her single “Envy.” The up-and-coming artist’s blend of hip-hop and R&B had the crowd nodding their heads and grooving along. The Nigerian-American multi-instrumentalist played all six tracks of her first and only EP “Monologues” released in May of 2022, while the crowd cheered her on while her voice flowed throughout the venue.

But it was Masego who really stole the show opening with his hit song, “Mystery Lady.” The multi-talented musician and songwriter took the stage with an infectious energy that had the entire audience moving and grooving from the moment he began to play. From his soulful saxophone solos to his smooth vocals, Masego delivered a truly unforgettable performance.
He played a mix of old and new tracks, including crowd favorites like “Navajo” and “Tadow.” Throughout the night Masego really showcased his growth as an artist, with more complex arrangements and mature lyrics that spoke to the audience on a deeper level. His stage presence was also worth noting. He engaged with fans throughout the show, taking time to chat between songs and even throwing money and red roses out into the crowd.
All in all, the concert was an incredible experience and I believe the people in attendance were the true winners for providing such a positive ambiance all night. Masego and Ogi both brought their A-game, making it a night that the audience will remember for years to come.
