Midlife
Jaël
Review By: Militza Reyna

Swiss musician Jaël just released her third solo album “Mildlife”, with plans of starting a tour this upcoming Spring.
With a warm and melancholic voice accompanied by delicate piano ballads and driving guitar tracks Jaël takes you through the touching reflection of her personal life journey. Giving you the sense of not always having to be perfect as a mother of two. Which she sings about in “Only human”.
For the first time, Jaël releases “IiTii” a song written in her native Swiss-German language, which aptly describes being different in principle and not quite fitting into a society as neuro-sensitive.
Singing about a very serious, sensitive and a topic that needs to be talked about, Jaël takes all her courage to sing about sexual assault and the associated fear that can prevent victims from speaking up, from saying no and defending themselves in her psychedelic song “Paralyzed”.
The double album, which was produced by Cyril Camenzind, and was mostly written during Covid contains new songs, exclusive photos, personal thoughts and a b-side with live recordings from Jaël’s last tour.

“Musically, after 25 years of career, I have finally managed to embed all my musical influences into my personal Jaël sound. There is sweetness, things that hurt, hope on that album. And over all hovers the melancholy that has always dominated my songs and my voice.” – Jaël
