Having completed a year long tour: Dreams in Gold, Greta Van Fleet has returned home!  As well as releasing their new track “Meet The Master” last Friday, the Michigan band also announced the release date of their highly anticipated album Starcatcher which follows their musically advanced album, Battle At Gardens Gate. At their long awaited final performance of the tour, Josh, Jake and Sam Kiszka, along with Danny Wagner, spoiled a few unreleased songs from the upcoming album. As of now, you can preorder Starcatcher HERE, which is due out on July 21st for your enjoyment. A light hearted, airy song, “Meeting The Master” is filled with sweet melodies and a light tempo. There is an incredible beauty to the vocals and the instruments in this song. Every note is very graceful and is powerfully delivered. In recent interviews the band has mentioned that they wanted to tell a story with their music, and one can safely say they have done exactly that; the album seems to follow the same if not similar storyline as the band’s previous release, The Battle at Gardens Gates. I find the song very similar to Jethro Tull’s “Reasons For Waiting.” Before taking the stage on their previous two tours, Strange Horizons and Dreams in Gold, the band would play the song. For those who have travelled to see them on stage and have heard the song night after night, hearing “Meeting The Master” for the first time almost feels like a secret easter egg, a gift. We will most definitely be looking forward to the album’s release.
